Sonam Kapoor's Timeless Elegance: Embracing Tradition in Her Mother's Gharchola

Sonam Kapoor attended a wedding wearing a special saree that belonged to her mom, Sunita Kapoor. The saree, called Gharchola, is 35 years old. Sonam looked beautiful in the traditional outfit, proving that wearing clothes from your mom's wardrobe is always a good idea.

The red Gharchola saree has intricate patterns, a white Bandhani design, broad borders, and mirror embellishments. Sonam draped it in the traditional Gujarati style and paired it with a matching red blouse. The blouse had gold embroidery, puff-styled shoulders, and mirror work.

Sonam accessorized the outfit with gold and Kundan jewelry, including a mang tika, earrings, a choker necklace, kadhas, and rings. She completed her look with embroidered juttis and half-up, half-down hair adorned with a white gajra.

What makes Gharchola special is that it's not just any saree. The name comes from the words 'ghar' (home) and 'chola' (clothing). While it literally means 'home apparel,' it holds a deeper meaning. In Gujarat, Gharchola is traditionally given by the mother-in-law to the bride after the third phera in the wedding ceremony. It symbolizes acceptance and a warm welcome to the bride in her new family.
